My journey with Carousell

Upon discovering Carousell, I realized its potential beyond just selling phone cases. I decided to explore selling a variety of items, leveraging platforms like Shopee to purchase goods at low prices for resale on Carousell. My inventory included items like stickers, notebooks, and various finds from the $0.99 and $1.99 sections. Initially, I meticulously tracked my purchases and profits on an Excel sheet dating back to 2018. However, over time, I found myself neglecting to update it.

As depicted in the image, each item I acquired cost me less than $1, yet yielded a decent profit. However, as more people became aware of platforms like Shopee and Lazada, the market became saturated, leading to a decline in business. Nowadays, Carousell serves as a go-to for those seeking immediate purchases or willing to buy second-hand items at a discount. While establishing a thriving business on Carousell has become more challenging due to its limitations and increased competition from other shopping platforms, it remains a viable option. One strategy worth considering is offering exceptional deals, like sourcing shoes from abroad to capitalize on favorable exchange rates and selling them locally or flipping high-ticket items such as bicycles. Although I still maintain some leftover inventory from my earlier endeavors, as well as listings for pre-order items, I've shifted my focus away from active selling on Carousell.
